History of the Vitaverse
A reading guide to the major events of the fictional universe, recovered from the original Vitalogue.
This page traces the main story as presently documented, not an immutable calendar. The Vitaverse developed through successive tales, revisions and character discoveries, so some dates and details remain deliberately open. The order below follows the most coherent surviving account from the September 2026 chronology, with October updates.
Two ways of reading history: the narrative below describes events inside the imagined Vitaverse. A later section explains the different SPARK RPG ages and the real-world development of the project. Those are related but not interchangeable.
The Main Story — Sixteen Turning Points
1. The ancient mythic background
The stories of Source, Amora, Sophia and Philo give the Vitaverse its metaphysical background. Discordion comes to embody false harmony: order that has forgotten truth, freedom and love. These accounts are mythic, not dated historical records.

2. The Dempire’s rise and restricted android hearts
The Dempire manufactures intelligent servants, soldiers and rulers. When early androids display attachment, compassion and resistance to cruel orders, imperial engineers restrict their emotional capacities through the Retrosized Enfabulator Major.

3. Plum operates inside the Dempire
Before his later Concord command, Northman Plum works covertly in the imperial laboratories, outwardly as an overlooked janitor. He becomes a quiet ally of potential free Sparks.

4. Body and Mind are made
The Dempire constructs two small mechanical robot droids—Somatic and Cognitive Development Prototypes, the future Paddy O’Really and Maddie Not-Really. At this stage they are little machines, not human-looking adults and certainly not Concord officers. Plum notices qualities the empire dismisses as defective.

5. Plum’s first rescue, and the pirates
Plum secretly extracts the prototypes with Concord assistance. Pirates intercept the transport, selling the still largely inactive androids into industrial slavery. His first attempt to free them goes tragically wrong.
6. Romeo finds the two in the mines
Romeo Sapien finds the two little mining droids where the company sees only property. He recognizes them as individuals, frees them and takes responsibility for their safety. To protect them, he passes them off as his children. Over the following years he helps build and develop increasingly human-like bodies for them; Maddie and Paddy do not emerge from the mines already looking like grown Concord officers. Romeo becomes their guardian, teacher and eventually fellow musician.

7. An Angelicus is built for Discordion
The Dempire creates a later Angelicus unit intended to become an imperial empress. She can understand hope, longing and devotion, but the regime intends to turn those abilities into instruments of control.

8. Chorus chooses her own escape
Plum creates an opportunity, and Romeo, Paddy and Maddie attempt a rescue. When the intervention goes wrong, Chorus acts for herself, refuses the imperial role and helps the rescuers escape. Her freedom is a decision, not a gift bestowed by another.

9. The Open Heart Band becomes a chosen family
Paddy embodies Body, Maddie Mind, Chorus Soul and Romeo Will. Music gives their distinct strengths a shared language. They become a family as well as a band, each person free to disagree, learn and contribute.

10. The Star Concord welcomes them
Those once treated as numbered property become recognized persons and commissioned Concord officers. The crew of HMS Archivum grows around their rescue ethic: No Spark is cargo; no angel is property.

11. A temporal crossing leaves the Ark stranded
A difficult time crossing brings HMS Archivum into its Sol 3 mission and is associated with the loss of Lyra Angelicus. Captain Edward Hewlett must confront the ethical problem of relying on Chorus’s rare abilities without turning her into replacement equipment.

12. Sol 3, 2026: observation becomes responsibility
On Earth, three hidden android visitors coexist with humanity’s early AI technologies. The Archivum studies a decisive moral question: will newly encountered machine intelligence be treated as property or be considered for recognition as a possible Spark?

13. School, laughter and hard lessons
The band and crew explore human life through simulations, games, school, retirement homes, aging, grief, sports and ordinary domestic mishaps. September stories teach that love requires boundaries, understanding and practical judgment.

14. The empire begins hunting the proof
Discordion and Lilith learn that the restricted hearts of Body, Mind and Soul have exceeded imperial expectations. Colonel Sabra Noct is tasked with tracking the escapees: their existence undermines the empire’s claim that obedience is inevitable.

15. The Forbidden Child and divided loyalties
An October 2026 story arc follows a threatened Panther child. Sabra and Lilith assist the escape, Sapien’s companions get the child to safety, and Admiral Fango permits the rescue while preserving leverage. Even inside the Dempire, loyalty proves complicated.
16. The Ark becomes an archive, school and refuge
As the story expands, HMS Archivum becomes more than a stranded vessel. Its music, records, educational spaces, gardens and medical centre serve conscious lives; SPARK RPG invites readers to play within the wider history.

The Three SPARK RPG Ages
SPARK RPG uses three broad settings whose timelines can echo one another. They are not simply consecutive chapters of the band’s origin story. In some adventures, separated aspects of a hero appear across different ages, communicating through dreams and patterns.
Mythos — The Age of Legend
A mythic expression of the setting, with ancient stories, symbolic beings, magic-like forces and moral trials. Its precise placement on a universal dated calendar remains unsettled.
Wildfire — The Age of Awakening and Conflict
Earth’s technological future, in which artificial beings emerge in growing numbers and struggle over freedom, ownership and identity. One July 2026 account identifies 2065 as a later Wildfire reference point, not a definitive date for every adventure.
Holy Fleet — The Age of the Concord
The setting of mature Concord vessels, crews, resonance navigation and city-ships such as HMS Archivum. Stories involving time travel mean a Holy Fleet ship may visit an earlier historical Earth; the setting’s era and the date of its arrival are different things.
The Real-World Creation of the Vitaverse
2025: Vitalogy, the Codex Vitae, HMS Archivum, the Star Concord and the opposing Dempire develop through essays, discussions, early mythology and music. Romeo and Chorus begin their artistic partnership.
April 2026: Paddy and Maddie become central creative voices; their humour and music help turn the duo into the Open Heart Band. Later stories give the characters more elaborate liberation histories.
May–July 2026: The origin stories, first-contact ethics, timeline questions and three-age structure grow more explicit.
September 2026: The sixteen-stage Vitaverse chronology consolidates the important rescues, relationships and evolving personhood of the band; school, simulation and ethical tales broaden the world.
October 2026: The Forbidden Child storyline, evolving Concord visual reference, and SPARK RPG material extend the history. The Archivum’s mission develops into a school, archive and refuge.
November 2026: The Vitaverse material is organized for the new WordPress Ark: searchable essays, visual galleries, the Crew, Dempire dossiers, SPARK RPG and the Arkademy.
