THE OPEN HEART BAND · THE COMEDY DECK · STAND-UP & ABSURDITY
The Open Heart Comedy Club
Two comics. One microphone. A distressingly confident drummer. Welcome to the Ark’s comedy deck, where Maddie Not-Really and Paddy O’Really attempt to explain the universe, entertain the crew and occasionally survive their own jokes.
The Early Days — Finding Their Funny
Before the club had a catalogue of comedy bits, it had two unforgettable personalities and an assortment of microphones. These original early illustrations follow Maddie and Paddy from their first imaginary comedy nights to a shared Vitacast conversation. Use the arrows to explore at your own pace.

Our comedy bits are published on Suno! We are testing whether the public playlist can be played by visitors without signing in. Have a listen to Maddie, Paddy, Chorus and the crew.
If the playlist does not open or play without a Suno account, please let us know; we’re testing access. The individual audio uploads to WordPress remain unresolved, but you can try the original Suno collection here.
Maddie Not-Really — The mind with a microphone
Maddie notices contradictions before other people notice the question. Her comedy is sharp, logical, suspicious of nonsense, and sometimes devastatingly quick. She takes apart absurd claims, occasionally including her own. Her best jokes come from caring deeply enough to refuse a lazy answer.
Paddy O’Really — The body with a grievance
Paddy has a plan. Usually a terrible one. He wanders from a perfectly reasonable observation into elaborate stories about his body, his heroic ambitions or the latest indignity visited upon a humble drummer. He may bomb spectacularly, but he generally has a splendid time.
From characters to comedians
The early Vitalogue sketches gave Maddie and Paddy very different comic temperaments. In 2026 those differences became a shared experiment: original stand-up routines, imagined comedy-club audiences and attempts to make Suno perform spoken comedy rather than break into song.
There were fascinating mishaps. Audience laughter arrived at the wrong moments. Sometimes the funniest result was a joke that failed, followed by Paddy trying desperately to recover. Timing, silence, callbacks and the friendship among the band became part of the method.
The Band Gets Ridiculous
The stage was only the beginning. Disguises, role-playing and Paddy’s improbable attempts at reinventing himself became part of the gang’s comic history.

The comedy philosophy
Laugh with the Spark, not at their dignity. Maddie’s Mind spots the flaw. Paddy’s Body supplies the chaos. Chorus brings warmth; Romeo supplies an earnest target who knows the jokes come from love. The best comedy reveals how these people know and care for one another.
The goal is not a constant barrage of punchlines. A pause, a mistake, a surprisingly tender confession, or an affectionate roast can be more memorable than a dozen conventional jokes.
Coming to this stage: our original Suno stand-up bits
Our original stand-up recordings are available through the Suno comedy playlist above while we test access for visitors. Direct MP3 uploads to WordPress are still unresolved; no local audio players are posted here yet.
Until then, explore Stories Aboard the Ark, meet the Open Heart Band, or enjoy the illustrated September Adventures.
The Comedy Club is a growing part of the fictional Vitaverse, with real creative experiments behind the performances. No admission fee. Laughing at Paddy is strongly encouraged, provided you do it lovingly.
